Dock Tarn Lodge near Ambleside, is a wonderful south-facing lodge situated towards the top end of an established woodland estate where sightings of red squirrels, roe deer and an abundance of birdlife are common.
The spacious open-plan lodge offers two bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with built-in cupboards and electric wall-mounted heaters. The living area, with sofas, leads to the L-shaped kitchen, which is well-equipped with plenty of storage, and the dining table. Patio doors from the living area open onto the welcoming patio area and outside furniture.
Outside, the garden area is enclosed with wooden fencing, ideal for dogs. The estate itself is family-friendly and there are a number of walks leading directly from the Estate including Loughrigg Fell and Loughrigg Tarn, Elterwater, Skelwith Bridge and more if you head up into the Langdale Valley.
Two bedrooms: 1 x double with fitted wardrobes, 1 x twin with fitted wardrobes.
Open plan living area with comfy sofas, electric fire, Smart TV with Netflix (own account required), and french patio doors leading to the patio with outside seating.
Kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, Nespresso Dolce coffee machine (pods), microwave, panini press, a toaster and a dining table with 4 seats.
Bathroom with shower cubicle, basin, heated towel rail, and toilet.
A pass for the swimming pool facilities is provided, which includes a sauna and table tennis table.
Things To Note
Dock Tarn Lodge is accessed from the parking space via 5 steps with an additional step into the property.
Pool facilities are available from the start of March to the end of October.
Free parking for up to one car adjacent to the lodge with additional free parking at the top of the estate.
About The Location
Neaum Crag Estate is a superbly peaceful environment situated within an established woodland with towering trees, roaming wildlife, including red squirrels and roe deer, and the central location is ideal for exploring the South Lakes including Windermere, Ambleside, Coniston, and Grasmere. A bus stop is found at the bottom of the lane which makes it easy to explore without the car. Note that the lanes and paths through the estate are steep in places and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Within a 5-minutes walk is Skelwith Bridge, home to the popular Chesters Cafe, the Slate Gallery and the Skelwith Hotel and Talbot Bar, popular with walkers who enjoy the outside seating. From Skelwith is a wonderful walk along the River Brathay leading to Elterwater and Elterwater Village.
