Set in beautiful walking country near the Dales Way, the footpaths, bridleways and walled lanes provide walks directly from the house.
Centrally placed for touring, with many historic buildings close at hand including Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall and Gardens, Holker Hall and Motor Museum, plus the 12th century priory at Cartmel.
Lake Windermere, surrounded by exciting visitor attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes, Lakeside to Haverthwaite Steam Railway and the Brockhole Visitor Centre, plus the towns of Bowness and Windermere are all within 20-30 minutes’ drive.
The market town of Kendal, 6 miles, has a castle, leisure centre, riverside walks and excellent variety of shops and restaurants.
The high fells of Central Lakeland and the beautiful lakes of Coniston Water, Ullswater and Derwent Water can be reached in about 40 minutes for climbing and scrambling or simply to enjoy the magnificent scenery.

This was our eleventh visit to Waingap.
It is a supreme tribute to Dr Frank Oliver, formerly University of Exeter, that this property was restored to its present state.
As a fellow economic statistician, I knew Frank, and his work. Waingap is a perfect memorial, and I hope to revisit every year.

Absolutely loved it as always. The week is exceptional. If we could live there, we would! Saddest part is coming home. We have been going there for 5 years and every year is as magical as the last.

Cottage was clean and spacious.
Excellent location just 5 miles from Kendal, Windermere and Bowness.
Local amenities limited - golf course and the Sun Inn pub (Excellent Sunday roast lunch there with a pub lunch for the dogs too!!) - so you need a car/transport to get anywhere.
