Some sell seafood and have outdoor seating, so you can sit and watch the boats and the activity along some of the harbour.

Sundays are popular with a market in the mornings with the locals and visitors enjoying a stroll amongst the stalls with a fresh fish and meat van.

A variety of small pods are home to local business offering bespoke goods, lovely to spend a few minutes on a sunny day. Warkworth Castle is only 4 miles, sat at the top of the hill overlooking bespoke shops, lovely tea rooms and friendly pubs it is a lovely place for a lunch or evening meal.

Alnwick is a 20-minute drive and home to the famous castle used for some scenes in Downton Abbey and Harry Potter, the cobbled streets and history make for a special day out. Further north up the coast are the popular villages of Craster, Beadnell and Bamburgh and of course Holy Island all make a wonderful day trip soaking in the friendly atmosphere, chatting to some of the locals and enjoying some great Northumbrian hospitality.
